Organizers initially had the event delayed by three hours Sunday but decided to call it off altogether and start 10 a.m. Monday for the last 70 players.

The 19-year-old Saso, who shot a 66 in the first round for a share of the lead, is six strokes behind after a 71 Saturday. She tees off at 9:20 a.m. with Tsugumi Miyazaki and Haruda Kudo on No. 1.

The $2.1 million event is the first in the Japan LPGA Tour calendar this year following cancellation of tournaments since January due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is the first time in 23 years that the event will finish Monday, or since the 1997 Japan Women’s Open.

Mizuki Tanaka shot a 70 in the third round for an 11-under 205, a three-shot lead on Ayaka Furue and Mao Saigo, who tied at second with 208 after 66 and 67 respectively.

Miki Sakai, Reika Usui, Ai Suzuki and Ayaka Watanabe are tied at 209 while Nana Suganuma and Momoko Osato share eighth place at 210 with Saso is in joint 10th with Miyazaki, Kudo, Mone Inami, Ritsuko Ryu, Sakura Koiwai and Mao Nozawa at 211.
